As the largest training entity in the country, the IEFP has the most extensive national network of training centers, providing education to tens of thousands of people every year. Its training offer is largely supported by the Moodle platform, making it one of the main users of this technology in Portugal.

ALFASOFT was chosen to develop the new distance learning platform for the IEFP. The solution, built on PHP and Moodle and hosted on Microsoft's Azure Cloud, allows coordinators, trainers, and trainees to centrally access all resources related to the UFCDs (Short-Term Training Units) taught by the IEFP.

ALFASOFT was responsible for the full development of the solution and provided specialized support for configuring the infrastructure required for its operation. The implemented Moodle platform is integrated with Microsoft Teams, enabling automatic synchronization of UFCDs, trainers, and trainees between the two systems, optimizing processes that were previously carried out manually.

To ensure performance, security, and high availability of the platform, ALFASOFT designed and manages the entire cloud infrastructure. This is based on Azure services such as Application Gateway and Web Application Firewall (WAF) to strengthen security and access control, and Scale Sets to ensure load balancing and auto-scaling according to access volume, reducing operational costs. The architecture also includes optimized Linux servers, redundant NFS storage systems, and configurations that ensure geographic redundancy and service continuity. Database management and monitoring in Azure Cosmos DB, as well as secure system integrations, guarantee reliable, efficient, and scalable operation.
